This colorful mosaic masterpiece is one of four mosaics that was especially created in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Transplant Programs at Children’s Hospital Colorado. Each mosaic is unique and represents organ donors, transplant recipients, as well as all the team members and medical professionals that make donation and transplantation possible.
The mosaic locations include:
Entrance of Kidney Center – 4th floor
Entrance of Cardiac Institute – 3rd floor
The Digestive Health Institute Clinic – 1st floor, Outpatient Pavilion
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit – 3rd floor
Mosaic artist Krystie Rose Millich was commissioned to create each mosaic.
“After learning more about the Pediatric Donor Transplant program and hearing the stories of the transplant recipients at the Anniversary Celebration, I thought of a quote that inspired the butterfly design... ‘Just when the Caterpillar Thought the World was Over, it Became a Butterfly.’ It was an honor to work on this project and bring the vision of the Children's staff into reality."
