A typical tavern scene focused on the interaction of the various figures within view. The scene leads the viewer to imagine this is later in the evening with casually strewn broken drinking wear and the crowd broken into various smaller groups. There is some focus on the interaction between the barmaid and an officer enhancing the lifelike vision being portrayed.
This piece has not been attributed to an artist and instead is collected as a representation of the early 19th century British school.
