The Firestorm series, is a departure in style, medium and intent.
This series address the consequences of climate change through metaphorical landscape.
Based on an initial abstract watercolour and developed through the use of acrylics, allowing for a delicate layering of colour - the application of gestural marks, to satisfy the aesthetic vision of the original watercolour.
In creating this work I offer a visual narrative for reflection– a reckoning of personal responsibility for climate change. Blackened trees punctuate the fury of the burning landscape, standing as totems of loss. In a firestorm the sound of destruction is deafening - the call for climate action is not.
