I am a self-taught photographer who began photographing in the South Florida area in the early 1970’s. I later studied photography at the University of Miami in 1978 and 1979. In the early 1990’s I studied under Eduardo del Valle and Mirta Gomez at Florida International University.
In the late 1990’s I owned and operated a commercial photography studio in Hollywood, Florida – David L. Cohen Photography. I provided a range of professional photographic services including portrait, architectural, product, editorial, fashion and fine art photography.
In 1998 I relocated to the Triad area of North Carolina. I developed and taught photography classes at the Center for Creative Arts at the Cultural Arts Center in Greensboro. I have also been a member and served on the Board of Directors of the Greensboro Artists’ League.
I’ve had my work on display at a variety of locations including the Greensboro Artists’ League, the Alamance County Arts Council, the Two Art Chicks Gallery, the Vera Gallery and the Green Hill Center. Most recently my work was on display in a solo exhibition at the High Point Public Library in High Point, North Carolina.
As a photographer, I like to collect images rather than create images. I collect images I find interesting in terms of either composition, content, the emotions they represent, or their human symbolism. I believe my images are ones that the viewer may find as interesting but otherwise would not have taken note of had I not captured them and brought them to their attention.
