The Gherkin is a popular London Landmark but it's equally fascinating when you get close to it. This view is of the walkway that goes around the base and is by one of the cafe's situated there. I imagine it gets pretty busy at lunchtime on a weekday. Although the opposite is true of a weekend when the financial district is fairly quiet. This was a quiet Saturday afternoon. When the man leaning is checking his phone and the one in the distance takes photographs. There's always a photographer near the Gherkin! I decided to use the pink tones after my printer ran out of blue and I liked the resulting image.
As the pictures show, Under the Gherkin was selected for the Royal Watercolour Society's Contemporary Art Exhibition at Bankside Gallery in 2014.
