Circle Bouquet

Before the architecture, there were circles. From planets to soap bubbles, circles appear in nature with astounding frequency and variety. The perfect most efficient shape, with order and constraint in one. Circles form a complete contrast to the chaos of my painting style. To my mind, a marriage made in heaven.

Shape and pattern, mark making is fascinating, the same movements can be repeated but never elicit the same mark. Subtleties of pressure, quantity of ink, and a miriad of other quirks and foibles of watercolour paint mean it will never repeat the movements of previous attempts. Watercolour has a will of its own, it is capricious and cannot be controlled. One can try persuasion, to hope and pray that it will repeat something vaguely like what you want, it never does but it will create something magical.
