18 Doorknob
The hexagonal, weathered, brass doorknob is set against a dark blue background. The colour composed of Prussian blue, indigo and marine blue inks, cross layered to hint at another colour. Centre picture is a doorknob. A solid piece of door furniture, worn by years of use.
It's a simple device which invites you to open it and come inside. I suspect the residents of the house might not appreciate the intrusion, so it will need to be a virtual event.
Where does it go? Who chose this particular doorknob for this door? And that colour? I can only say why I was attracted to it. I liked the door, the colour of it, its size and shape. This is a substantial doorway to a town house. Designed to impress in an elegant, non-showy, understated and classy way.
I could talk of the colours, the blue/greens and orange browns. The burnt umber browns, the cobalt blue squiggles. The dark browns, almost black that seem to darken the overall painting. I could talk of them, or you can look for yourself and see what emerges.
