11 Brick Wall
A warm orange glow is behind the regular markings of the brickwork. On top patches of purple,, dark red, ochre and deep brown suggest individual bricks. The edges are worn and indistinct showing the age of the brick wall. A cool deep blue triangle of sky occupies the top left, a marked contrast to the warmth of the brickwork. Between a meandering series of lines trace out the edge of the roof down to the end of the gutter pipe. At the apex stands a TV aerial, like a little tree peeking above the edge.
The white lines suggest a corner but not too distantly. The lines are blurred with this piece. Look closely you will see flower like blooms, crystals of pink and orange. Patterns and texture created by the paint in the process of drying. Colours bleeding into adjacent zones.
The image is solid, dependable, a brick wall, nothing fancy. Does what it needs to and adds a bit of colour as a bonus. The wall could be anywhere. There are thousands maybe even millions of similar structure. All doing the same job and all showing evidence of their unique locations and events that have affected them. This wall is on the High Street by the entrance to Buckingham Hospital.
The eleventh of a series of 50 paintings all 7" x 7" detailing architecture features from buildings in the Buckinghamshire area. Part of a challenge to create 50 paintings in 2018.
