A Plein air piece painted at the Mabel Dodge Lujan House in Taos, New Mexico in the dead of winter. The trees were leafless, but I could imagine the many guests Mabel had stay with her that passed under this archway not so very long ago. People that I’d give my eye teeth to have known. The bell reminds me of a church bell that greats visitors to service on holy ground. Well Maybel’s bell would have signified holy ground with visitors that are gods and goddesses to me. A sanctuary for the artistic spirit.
