This calm scene is from Cullen Bay in Darwin. Beautiful homes and restaurants surround this enclosed marina, that protects it from the huge tidal changes that we experience up in Northern Australia. This yachet had just passed through the loch after a day out sailing and was quietly putting back to its protected home for the night. It was such a beautiful sunset and an inspirational scene I just had to create into a painting.
I have grown up with boats because my late Father was an avid fisherman and I loved being out on the water with him. In our busy lives it is easy to forget how such simple things can mean so much and that we should continue to find time to stop, reflect and get outside to make new memories.
