MessageMaking wigs was one of the ways women in Colonial Days could be gainfully employed. The job was tedious and required excellent eyesight and strong hands. I opted to greatly simplify and flatten (almost abstracting) the background and shapes around the subject in order to focus attention, as she does, on the wig itself.
