This painting was part of a group of works in a 2019 San Miguel de Allende show. These works focused on textures and shapes. This particular piece has a rather simple format. I worked on this painting from various directions, keeping in mind a Wilhelm DeKooning mantra that a painting should work from all directions. I have adopted this approach over the last 20 years or so. Hence, the final stage of this composition, in blues and grays, only becomes "Crazy Cat" after many twists and turns. It is possible to enjoy this piece from other positions.
