Artist: Richard Donahue
Richard Donahue’s paintings blend techniques from his printmaking background, using unconventional tools like rubber squeegees, drywall knives, and squirt bottles to create distinctive textures. He employs specially produced paints described as “much-thickened latex paint with oversaturated pigment — basically house paint on steroids,” which contribute to the vibrancy and intensity of his work. By combining these materials and methods, Donahue produces bold, colorful compositions that challenge traditional painting concepts while honoring his artistic roots, pushing the boundaries of contemporary art.
