Lisa received an MFA in Printmaking from Kent Sate University in 1984 and a BFA from Ohio University in 1976. Lisa is recently retired from teaching visual arts and printmaking at Baldwin Wallace University and Notre Dame College. In addition to teaching college, her 40-year career includes a variety of experiences from teaching in public and private schools to participating in artists' residencies and internships.
Lisa is a resident artist at Zygote Press in downtown Cleveland, where she produces her prints, teaches and volunteers. In 2018 she was awarded a month long artist residency at the Morgan Paper Conservatory also in Cleveland and worked creating pulp paintings and handmade papers. In 2016 Lisa became "green" certified in non-toxic printmaking techniques through Zea Mays, a printmaking facility dedicated to safe and sustainable printmaking practices. In 2013 Lisa was the recipient of the Zygote Press's/Ohio Arts Council German artist exchange program.
She has exhibited her work in galleries and at juried, invitational and solo shows since 1984. Her work is in the collections of the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Southwest General Hospital, MetroHealth Center, the Ohio Arts Council, Zea Mays Printmaking Studio in Florence, Massachusetts, the Grafikwerkstatt, Dresden, Germany, the Cuyahoga County Headquarters, the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland and Tri-C Metro Campus along with other corporate and private collections.
carta owns a large collection of artwork by Cleveland area artists, both for adults and children, and purchases about $25,000 of new art annually. We further our mission by donating annual scholarships to Cleveland Institute of Art students and provide educational activities to enhance awareness of area artists.
