Artist: Hilary Gent
Hilary Gent is a talented painter whose artistic practice beautifully intertwines the urban and natural landscapes that surround us. An alumna of the Kent State School of Art, she studied under the late Craig Lucas, a legendary Cleveland artist who greatly influenced her practice. Working predominantly with oil and latex mediums, Gent has recently experimented with latex house paint, which she skillfully mixes in cups and layers onto the canvas through a dynamic pouring process. Her paintings are deeply inspired by the rich and diverse color palettes created by reflections of light, landscape, and various objects found in and on the water. Drawing from the sensory experiences of touch, sound, and sight, Gent evokes a personal connection to the landscape, translating these emotions and interactions into her vibrant and evocative artworks.
