In my creative practice, I am constantly exploring the possibilities of the wet plate collodion process. This historic photographic medium, with its unpredictable and sometimes imperfect results, is a perfect tool for my artistic expression. It allows me to capture images in a tangible, tactile form, making each piece a unique object and not just a reproduction. I manipulate the collodion process through various techniques including tinting, varnishing, and using nontraditional substrates such as glass and metal. This allows me to create pieces that are not only visually striking, but also challenge the traditional definition of a photograph.

Despite my focus on photography, I consider myself primarily a sculptor. Each of my pieces starts as a three-dimensional object, whether it be a found object, a constructed form, or a body part, and is then transformed through the wet plate collodion process. I see my work as a collaboration between myself, my subjects, and the materials I use. My goal is to create pieces that speak to the human experience and our relationship with the world around us.

Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to exhibit my work in various solo, duo, and group exhibitions, both nationally and internationally. I take great pride in the fact that my work has been well-received and recognized by organizations such as the Ohio Arts Council. My passion for my craft also extends to education, as I have taught at the Cleveland Institute of Art and have mentored emerging artists.

In addition to my artistic pursuits, I have an extensive background in design. I spent many years designing and directing the creation of toys and children's products, giving me a strong foundation in form, function, and aesthetics. This experience has greatly influenced my approach to my current work, where I am able to combine my design background with my artistic vision.

Currently, I am the Director of Design for Kichler Lighting, a decorative lighting company. This role allows me to continuously explore and push boundaries in design while also managing and mentoring a team of talented designers.
