George F. Kocar is an award winning artist who has exhibited his paintings in over fifty solo shows and over four hundred juried or invitational shows across the United States. He has won numerous awards including a Jurors award at The Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown, Ohio in 1985 and 1998; Best of Show at the Ohio Exposition Center in Columbus, Ohio in 1998; an award for printmaking at The Society of American Graphic Artists in New York, New York in 2002; First Place for painting at The Zanesville Art Museum Annual Exhibition in 2007; First Place in Category at
Boston Mills in 2009. He is listed in Who's Who in American Art. He has a B.A. from Cleveland State University (Class of 1977) Cleveland, Ohio and a M.F.A. from Syracuse University (Class of 1983) Syracuse, New York.
He was an Adjunct Instructor at Ashland University.
carta owns a large collection of artwork by Cleveland area artists, both for adults and children, and purchases about $25,000 of new art annually. We further our mission by donating annual scholarships to Cleveland Institute of Art students and provide educational activities to enhance awareness of area artists.
