ott von Schneider (b.1968) is a mixed media artist based in Cleveland, Ohio. Her palette has amassed a variety of natural and man-made materials throughout her travels over the years. She is interested in the electric vibrations and spiritual content of the earth we walk upon, which dominates her paintings in both the literal and figurative sense.
Having studied at the AFEDAP atelier in Paris, she went on to receive her degree at the École des Beaux-arts de Rouen (now L‘École Supérieure d‘Art et Design Le Havre-Rouen). Although von Schneider had been steadily exhibiting in group shows throughout the region since 1996, thanks to Julia Toke it was Dott’s solo show, Nervous Bird, at the infamous 1300 Gallery in 2006 that had catapulted her as a thinker in the Cleveland art scene. Upon her return from Las Vegas in 2010 her solo exhibition, Burrows brought her work back to Cleveland thanks to Hilary Gent, Owner and Director at HEDGE Gallery. In addition to her studio work, Dott is a long-time curator, art critic, mentor, and partner at Wachshaus von Schneider. Her work is in private collections across the globe.
