Dana L. Depew is known for transforming discarded objects and found materials into unique creations. His basement-studio resembles a labyrinthine thrift store, overflowing with hundreds of paintings, sculptures, and eclectic items, reflecting his lifelong passion for a variety of artistic styles. The son of an antiques dealer, Depew grew up on a farm in Medina, Ohio, and has been inspired by objects since childhood, studying sculpture at Kent State University while also creating paintings. In May 2001, he opened Asterisk Gallery in Tremont, which has become a vibrant hub for local emerging artists, showcasing their work during events like the Tremont Art Walk and monthly openings that highlight Depew's own art. Dana is tireless in promoting the arts by curating exhibitions, judging art competitions and residing on the board of directors of several arts and cultural organizations.
