Christi Birchfield, a native of Cleveland, Ohio was born on September 5th 1983. Christi attended the Cleveland Institute of Art where she received a degree in printmaking in 2006. She continued her studies at Columbia University where she received her MFA in visual art in 2010. The summer of 2010 she attended Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. Christi continues to live and work in Cleveland. She is a full-time Visiting Artist/Lecturer in the Foundation Department at the Cleveland Institute of Art. Christi's work is included in the permanent print and drawing collection of the Cleveland Museum of Art and the Cleveland Clinic Contemporary Art Collection. She has exhibited her work both nationally and internationally in cities such as New York, New Orleans, and Qijiang, China.
carta owns a large collection of artwork by Cleveland area artists, both for adults and children, and purchases about $25,000 of new art annually. We further our mission by donating annual scholarships to Cleveland Institute of Art students and provide educational activities to enhance awareness of area artists.
