First Impression (8 x 8")

While on a hike through the woods, I stopped to paint a small watercolor my impression of the light streaming through the trees across the path. Then I used that back in my studio to make a small oil and cold wax painting on a cradled birch panel. I loved being able to add and subtract layers with the cold wax. You can scrape through it to see previous layers, or glaze color over dry areas.
