This print is my first-ever foray into printmaking. I took a class at the The Kline Academy of Fine Art in Los Angeles. The class, Contemporary Printmaking Workshop, taught by Steven James Mayorga, was an eye-opening and educational experience, giving me a new perspective and voice to my art.
My inspiration for this print is from a visit to Jerusalem, about 6 years ago, when our nephew took my husband and me to his friend's olive grove and vineyard. There we came upon the bombed remains of a building on the land. An incredibly sad reminder of the ever-present refusal and denial of peace and coexistence by Hamas and Hezbollah toward Israel.
And yet, even there, grew one small red poppy and an olive tree.
