From almost the beginning of the pandemic, Covid has revealed to us the depth, virulence, and violence of anti-AAPI bigotry. This hate should distress and motivate all of us, directly and urgently. In addition for me, it is personal. Andrew is my son-in-law.
I painted this portrait about a year into Covid, with love, respect, and also some fear. I have hung the painting in a special place. When I walk into my studio, Andrew Intrepid is the first image I see.
