Many tribes refer to God as Grandfather or Great Spirit. The Choctaw word for God is Hashtali, but we also use Achafa Chito (Great One), or Chictokaka (Mighty One).
When I finished this painting, I walked away to let it sit for a while, as I always do. When I came in the next day, the powerful imagery struck me and I murmured "Grandfather". It gave me a feeling of reverence and I hope that feeling comes through to you.
This original is everything I love about abstract painting. The things that show up as a result of being "in the flow" while applying acrylic paint and inks always surprise me. The rich colors make me happy & I hope they will make you happy too.
