West Coast beaches inform my art, where surf foam rolls onto the beach. Nuanced paint layers move from surface sand to surf & to gold leaf waves. Beach foam is enlarged to capture textures & a sense of visual silence that is both elegant and calm.
Raised in the country, I have closely observed earth’s formations which has become a thematic influence in my work. Microscopic images are expanded 1000%, using layers of acrylic paint and string impressions. The image is presented as an ocean “slice," as if viewed from above.
I sense the need for people today to find a peaceful, serene place in their soul. When I create my white paintings, its like painting a meditation session in a rainbow field.
The longer a person looks at my monochromatic white art work, the more subtle, reflective colors are revealed, creating a visual silence.
