Hazy morning is a painting about the strength of value (lightness or darkness of a color) and staying within a limited range of values on the value scale. It is a theme I love to work with. I paint plein air for this reason to learn and study the use color in relation to value. Using my photos with my plein air value and color sketches, I am able to work within the studio on larger paintings. Hazy morning is a studio painting but its strength comes from years of never ending study and observation.
Pastel is also the perfect medium for painting it will never fade or crack with age, unlike oil paintings, pastel will remain as fresh and vibrant as the day they were painted. The museum glass used has anti reflection qualities and the painting will look as if there is nothing between you and the painting.
