Glare Image: “Glare” is a painting about that intense light that we first see on a summer day after coming outside into the brightness from the dark inside. A light so bright that we must squint to observe our surroundings. The idea for this painting started with a 6x8 plein air pastel and asking a question “What If I minimized the landscape and focused only on the light?” I found that light is extremely hard to interpret with pigments, I had to rely on color value, intensity, and most importantly color relativity to finish this painting.
