Bare Minimum by carol strock wasson Image: This painting is about using the most minimal strokes of pastel to represent the light in the landscape. It’s always been a goal of mine to be able to achieve this type of simplistic elegance in a painting. It has proved to be hard to stop at the right time before I went too far. This painting is one that I stopped at the right time.
Process: I started with one of my monotypes prints that was only greyscale and gradations, Gently using pan pastels and soft pastels I layered the colors over the monotype, fortunately stopping at the right moment.
