When You Were Me by Carol Schottenfeld, Image 1.
This wall hanging is the result of multiple layers of silkscreen, hand drawing, and stitching. The main pattern is modeled after the pattern of stretch marks on my stomach, still there years after my children have left the womb and became separate from myself. As I age, I am noticing more and more these marks left as evidence of live on my skin and I am at once taken back by the wear and tear of my body and the beauty that is confirmation that I am still of use.
