The Declaration

The Declaration employs the logical, engineered forms of scaffolding and bridges contrasted with the seemingly chaotic forms of nature in the form of rocks. A tall, wooden, trussed grid structure that presents an artificial rock surface to viewers in a billboard-like manner. The style of presentation suggests an important message for a wide audience, but no printed message is given. The rock, with its grey-black coloring highlighting its surface texture and materiality, does not give up its secrets easily. If there is a message here, it is to be gleaned by the viewer slowly over time. If the viewer inspects the sculpture in the round, and walks around the back, they will discover that the rock is only a hollow shell, a facade.
