Expand shows a simple but abstracted scene of earth and sky. Towards the top I’ve used cool blue and white tones to create a soft, misty sky. Below has juicy greens and reddish colors that suggest rough ground or a field. Thick layers of oil and cold wax give this painting a textured surface you can almost feel.
The contrast between the light, airy top and the dark ground creates a calm yet dramatic balance. Using just a few tools, I experimented with thick paint to explore how color and texture can shape a space. Like most of my work, this piece invites us to slow down and notice the small changes in light and surface, finding meaning in the quiet contrasts.
