Garden of Happiness

Building my paintings is much like frosting a cake. To illustrate the array of emotions that surface when decision making, I use light, texture and organic form to create compositions that feel familiar and comforting. Layers are made by smearing, scraping and carving oil paint onto the canvas. I want the viewer to know the property of the paint and the force of the knife stroke as these represent the volume of decisions I overcame as the marks were made. My roots in organic form and landscape ring through in my varying subject matter. My paintings create a place for viewers to revel in pure happiness.
For me, the memory of a moment-the visualization and emotion- triggers physical sensations of pure joy. I am driven to translate moments like these into art. While viewing my work, you will experience the intangible bliss that memories subconsciously create.
