A series of ink on rag paper paintings, all are 18"x24".
I confront the self through contemplation on vulnerability, anxiety, and the aggression of introspection through acts of drawing and performance. The subject of my work is the form of my own naked body. The form is enveloped in a type of empty space whether in the white background of a substrate or the stark industrial walls of a performance space so there is nothing to consume other than the singular image of my naked body, stark and quiet. I use repetitive imagery and work in multiples as a visual mantra, as one would meditate—expressing the inexpressible over and over into an awakening not guaranteed.
