I’m captivated by summer - its light and the carefree joy it brings.
This collection of 3, named Summer Palms, brings back those childhood memories of days by the beach, licking melted rainbow coloured "paddle pops". The arches symbolise Balmoral Beach’s Rotunda - many summer days were spent there and still are. An iconic structure that's home to plays, musical and dance performances.
I believe our early experiences shape a kind of personal mythology, and this mythology comes alive in my paintings through colour, rhythm, simple shapes, and repetition.
