This painting began with a photo of a mounted rabbit I wanted to use as a reference photo. I happened to be reading about dinosaurs at the time, and out of nowhere the idea popped in my head of the word velocirabbit, and so decided to give the rabbit large velociraptor claws. I also experimented with giving the rabbit some sharp teeth, but ended up removing the teeth as it seemed a bit too over the top.
