I have been working on a new series about my many road trips from the Asheville area back to Charlotte. My mom, sister and daughter live in the Asheville area and I am in awe of the resiliency of folks coming out of the year from Helene. When I saw the skies opening up through my rearview mirror as I was leaving for home I felt compelled to paint this and recognize how many GOOD stories came out of this tragedy. Every person I meet in the mountains has a story about neighbors helping neighbors and strangers reaching out. It gives me hope and makes me realize how GOOD people are down deep.
