London Studio Renovations Complete! / November 22, 2017

After an uphill battle of logistics, I have finally managed to complete my studio renovations up to sight-size painting standards.

Though the studio was beautiful in white, a mid-grey tone is needed in portraiture to cut down the reflected light. Though I know that there are many schools of thought as to what hue and tone are needed in a studio, I was inclined to replicate the studio conditions afforded to me by Charles H. Cecil Studios in Florence. Many a debate was had with other painters over the colours they had used and the feedback that was generated from it.

To enhance the shadows and flatter the skin tone, I chose to work with Little Greene's 'Lead' colour emulsion recommended to me by fellow artist and friend Harriet Pattinson.

I couldn't have done this without Mick from Chelsea Green Decorators. He saved the day with a last minute booking and did an incredible job in the studio. I couldn't recommend him and his son more highly. They even helped hang the heavy frames on my five-metre tall walls.

As such, the studio is now open for business and I will resume taking clients in for the new year.
