MessageLee Anne White is a fine art photographer who creates intimate portraits of place—the terrain, what grows there, the history of the land and our relationship to place. She works both in the field and in the studio and has a special love for the black-and-white print.
She has exhibited her work throughout the U.S. and abroad, including 30 photographs on permanent display at Brenau University and the 3rd Barcelona Foto Biennale, which featured two series of black-and-white photographs selected for the 17th Julia Margaret Camera Awards. Lee Anne is an instructor for Maine Media Workshops, Santa Fe Workshops, Chicago Botanic Garden and Madeline Island School of the Arts, and also teaches on Amelia Island and online.
She previously served as editor-in-chief of Fine Gardening magazine and consulting editor for Taunton Books, and is the author and principal photographer of numerous books on landscape architecture and garden design, including Closer to Nature: The Landscapes of Simmonds and Associates, Outdoor Kitchen Ideas That Work, and the Backyard Idea Book.
