My 4-year-old son Greg and I created this piece together. It started life as a primary-colored abstract piece that I was working on to donate for a fundraiser for the Benton Hall Academy, a school that educate children who learn differently.

I jumped at this opportunity because my own son is on the autism spectrum, and I thought it would be good for him to collaborate with me on this. He could learn about helping other people who have similar struggles.

But when I wasnt looking, he applied a dab of black to it. I wasnt ready for him to touch it yet. He was so proud of himself. Once my heart started beating again, I noticed the little black blob looked like a submarine. Sure enough, he said it was, and he started singing a song similar to Yellow Submarine.

He had a blast painting this with me and was so disappointed when we delivered the painting. So sometime soon he and I will have create something new.
