In 2025, Kevin Box Studio began a new seasonal practice: melting down our own bronze and pouring it into something meaningful. Drawing on a sand casting tradition pioneered at Sloss Iron Foundry in Birmingham, Alabama, we invited Matt Eaton, formerly of Sloss and the Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA), to help us establish the technique here in our studio.

Kevin adapted the process in his own distinctive way, working from paper and wax originals to create forms that are entirely his own. In an intimate three-day workshop format, participants join us to cast their own bronze bowl alongside Kevin, learning the process firsthand while contributing to a small, rare body of work.

The workshops will yield only a very limited number of bowls, and occasionally bells.
