I was born a northern girl on Long Island. When in elementary school my family moved to sunny Miami, Florida. I always loved art. Following my passion I went to college as an Art major. I studied with such noted artists as Duane Hanson, who stressed the importance of drawing and learning the basics. A job transfer landed my small family back up North. We settled in the Highlands town of Ringwood in the Ramapo Mountains of New Jersey. Heaven!! Still having the desire to create I travelled to NYC and studied at the Art Student's League with various artists, including Michael Burban for figure drawing and anatomy. I studied representational oil painting with Arthur Maynard, John P. Osborne and my beloved friend Betty Kaytes at the Ridgewood Art Institute. The RAI gave me the foundation I needed to build on in my pursuit of capturing the flow of light in my still life, floral and landscape paintings. I have taken many workshops, studied at the Florence Academy and travelled to wonderful locations in Europe, Canada and the US to paint en plein air. Traveling up and down the East Coast from Canada to North Carolina. I participate in plein air events in the Adirondacks, Acadia National Park, New York State, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and North Carolina as well as Canada. What fun! My luck continues, I found my passion-painting en PleinAir. This year I have been concentrating on painting, in the studio and en PleinAir with a palette knife. This enables me to add so much emotion to my work. I am now an instructor at the Ridgewood Art Institute teaching young people the joy of painting.
