ARTIST'S NOTE: "Lily Pond (Summer)" is one in a series of four impressionistic, abstract artworks on hardboard imagining Monet's Water Lily Pond (1899) lush with lilies in summer. Summertime, when the pond is cover with lilies is the season when Monet's obsessive angst about painting water lilies caused him much angst because of some personal loss and self doubts from old age.
