ARTIST'S NOTE: "Black Water" is an impressionistic landscape art piece on paper inspired by the artist's visit to the Jamestown Settlement, Jamestown, Virginia. There he heard the speculations about what killed hundreds of the first English settlers - most likely brackish seawater and human waste that tainted the waters of their shallow drinking wells.
