The interplay between the organic feel of the flowing poured paint, the streaks from brushwork and the lattice formed when thin layers pull apart tell a story of a space that has been lived in. I have been using rulers, pencils, and compases to draw intricate substructures into the composition. I spend hours making these structures that I know will largely end up obscured under layers of built up paint.

The fine lines disappear. They hint at a more complex structure hidden underneath. In some places the ordered structure is nearly completely obliterated by chaotic smears and roiling poured paint.
