"Seventy-Nine Moons and Counting" is a richly textured and layered painting created in the artist's Lowell, MA studio in January 2019. The piece began on raw, un-stretched canvas, which was later stretched around gallery-depth, heavy-duty stretcher bars, allowing the composition to wrap around the edges. The 48 x 36 inch canvas features a dynamic interplay of acrylic, Sharpie, and spray-dye, resulting in a complex visual narrative that invites exploration. The composition is characterized by vibrant, swirling forms that interact with geometric patterns and organic shapes, creating a sense of movement and depth that draws the viewer into its multi-layered world.
