This is a lyrical abstract composition in acrylic on canvas. It features a lot of brushwork and wet-on-wet layering of paints. Doodles in acrylic are incorporated into the all-over composition, creating a sinuous path through the piece and providing resting places for the eye along the way.
I have a very fond memory of making this painting. We were on vacation at a friends property in NY state. The property included 12 acres of forested land with a stream running through it and was previously the site of some kind of camp so there was a dilapidated dormitory style building, a new cabin, and a bunch of other old buildings in various states of repair. We used to go a few times a year and meet up with friends from across the country. I set up a little painting area outside near the stream and while I was painting a friend was playing the guitar. The sun filtered through the leaves of the trees and the stream made gentle gurgling sounds.
