This is a painting that incorporates cut out images from Richard Scarry's "Best Mother Goose Ever" book for children along with a couple of my old business cards, and some barcode tag labels that are refuse from a project at work. In a way it's sort of bringing together three major aspect of my life: fatherhood and family, my day-job as an engineer, and my long running studio practice. The two business cards feature artwork from over a decade ago. These elements are reduced and refined and presented as layers within the greater swirling composition of this painting.
The title is a strained pun on normalizing terrible things, which is what I feel like these old fairy tales do with their casual depictions of violence and child abuse.
