This is an abstract painting on un-primed (raw) canvas in acrylic with indelible marker (Sharpie), paint marker, and collage. The painting was wrapped around heavy duty gallery depth (1.5”) stretcher bars after it had dried, such that elements of the composition wrap around the sides of the final piece (see detail image).
There is a vortex of activity in this piece, with an underlying composition of delicate gradients in pink, yellow, and blue created by applying low viscosity (high flow) acrylic paint to canvas that has been soaked in water. The water pulls the paints into the fibers of the canvas, resulting in a dyed effect. On top of this I have poured, dripped, and smeared various acrylic paints and doodled in sharpie marker.
