A Gift for Stating the Oblivious comes from the 2015 Knuckle Bombs series, a group of paintings driven by bold color, spontaneous pours, and an intuitive exploration of what acrylic paint could do when pushed toward its limits. In this piece, pools of black, neon pink, orange, and acid green collide and merge, creating a dense field of drips, bubbles, and cellular textures. Clusters of circular forms appear almost biological, while bright red and turquoise passages punctuate the surface like signals or markers. The composition feels improvisational and exploratory, allowing the material behavior of the paint—flowing, separating, and coagulating—to guide the image as much as the artist’s hand.
