Lone Tree — painted en plein air with palette knives in Somerville, Alabama. This vertical, highly textured 8x10 oil on standard-depth canvas was created in the evening at the same location as Johnston Dairy Road Farm. Painted during the summer while my daughter attended gymnastics classes in the adjacent building, this piece reflects a busy but meaningful season of life. My friend Tammie had given me a portable easel, which inspired me to paint while waiting. The wildflowers and hum of insects surrounding the farm continued to influence my current series on native wildflowers. Made with professional artist-quality oils, the piece is ready to frame.
